Valentine's Day Craft
{Pencil Toppers}

9:00 AM

Today I wanted to share with you a simple craft just in time for Valentine's Day. This is a craft that we have put together for our homeschooling group which has a wide range of ages in children so feel free to change this as necessary to best fit your child. Keep reading if you want to see how to make them!

What You'll Need:

- Glue
- Pencils, any colors
- Tape
- Glitter
- Scissors
- Construction paper, any colors

Step 1:
Begin by folding two pieces of construction in half, one on top of the other. To cut out heart shapes, this will allow more to cut in a shorter amount of time. I recommend only using two sheets of paper at a time as it makes the most even cuts.

Step 2:
To cut out the heart shape, cut in a curve along the edges of the paper. Just make sure to not cut down the middle or else it will separate the shape. You can make them as big or small as you would like.

Step 3:
Once you have your heart shapes cut out, begin to decorate them to your liking. We simply wrote messages and designs out with glue, then added glitter on top of each.

Step 4:
Once your designs have fully dried, begin attaching to the pencils. Now you can either attach directly to the top which may make it difficult to use the eraser. Otherwise, you can attach to the middle of pencil or directly below the eraser. Make sure to secure it tightly so it won't fall off when being used.

The Final Product:

Keep in mind that you can easily customize these to whatever needs you may have and for pretty much any holiday as well. I hope you enjoyed this craft and give it a try!
