Spice Rubbed Pork Chops

One of my all time favorite food blogs is "Budget Bytes", not only does she offer recipes that are affordable but everything I have tried for myself has been delicious. One of my favorite recipes of hers is her "Glazed Pork Chops". I love reinventing my favorite dishes by adding things to make them a bit more of my own. While her original recipe is truly amazing, I wanted to add a few more of my favorite extra spices to give it a bit more kick and elevate the overall flavor to a more southwest vibe. This recipe will be a bit more on the spicy side of flavoring so adjust to your taste as needed. Also keep in mind, I had a lot of pork chops so you may need to split the recipe in half.

What You'll Need:

- 2 to 4 lbs of pork loin, or already cut pork chops (bone-in or boneless)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp ground red pepper
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp onion powder
  cup brown sugar

The Preparation:

Step 1:
If you are using a pork loin then go ahead and cut the chops into your preference of size and thickness. I cut mine about an inch thick and got 14 chops. If you are using already cut pork chops then skip this step.

Step 2:
Mix together all remaining ingredients into a small bowl. Making sure to blend them together well.

Step 3:
Apply 1 tsp of dry rub to one side of pork chops, place the seasoned side down in a large pan on medium-high heat. Season the other side.

Step 4:
Cook pork chops for 5 minutes per side. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 5:
Take chops out of pan then place on foil lined baking sheet. Bake for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how thick your chops are. You may also deglaze the pan and use the sauce to top finished pork chops.

Step 6:
Serve alongside your preferred side dishes. I served mine with rice pilaf and corn on the cob.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and let me know in the comments below if you give it a try. Be sure to also check out "Budget Bytes" for some amazing and affordable recipes!
