My Review:

My overall opinion is that the syrup is absolutely amazing and is something I will be using regularly for our pancakes, waffles, and other breakfast items as well. I will also be experimenting this basic recipe with other fruits because it truly is so easy to make and incredibly delicious. The french toast itself has potential. I would have preferred a more specific labeling of the bread used in the recipe, I had to go with the fresh bread option that I normally choose but I feel like the type of bread played a part in my downfall with the french toast.

I followed the instructions but do believe the bread and cream cheese pieces should be much smaller in order for this to bake and layer properly. A good amount of the liquid mixture was not absorbed into the bread and even though it baked for a little over an hour, it still had many soggy parts. Again, this could be due to my larger pieces of bread and lack of proper layering but I always follow the recipes as described for testing purposes.

I reheated it the next morning and with the french toast more crisp, it was a lovely dish. Again, the star of this recipe is absolutely the blueberry syrup. I guarantee you will fall in love with it! I can see my family making this again, but I will be tweaking the type of bread used and the size of pieces cut. I recommend trying it in smaller portions first to see how well your liquids absorb as well as testing baking times.

Keep in mind, every month all of you get to decide which recipe goes into the next Pinterest Test Kitchen, so keep an eye out for next month's poll! If you are new to this series, every month I post a poll with 4 recipe options from my many Pinterest recipes boards. After one week of voting, the recipe with the most votes becomes the one I test out by the end of the month. This helps me try something new and also put my Pinterest recipes to good use. Check out last month's recipe, Taco Cupcakes!
